Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Decorating:

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
    • In another bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
  2. Roll and Cut:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to create your favorite gingerbread shapes.
  3. Bake:
